Microsoft Romania grows on retail segment by 50% – Romania-Insider.com


Microsoft Romania managed to grow its retail segment by 50 percent in the last 12 months, while reporting hundreds of clients for its cloud services in the 2011 fiscal year, according to the company.

The market share of Microsoft Office suite increased by 3 percentage points in the 2011 fiscal year. In the same period, the market share of Windows rose by around 4.5 percentage points for new computers, according to the company. Launching Internet Explorer 9 in March led to a market share of about 4 percent, with the product being downloaded about 500,000 times.

Microsoft also reported a 50 percent increase in the number of new customers of ERP solutions and a doubling in the number of new customers for CRM solutions, in the last 12 months.

Microsoft continued its collaborations with commercial mobile operators in the last 12 months, making the transition from Windows Mobile 6.5 devices to new Windows Terminal Phone 7, being recorded 1.5 million downloads for Windows 7 Phone software development tools.

Microsoft Romania has also launched and supported a License Compliance policy based primarily on giving advices to the companies. The positive effect of the policy advice was reflected in lower piracy rate, at 64 percent, according to the company.
